SHIPPENSBURG — To increase a steady flow of communication, a new process has been implemented that will be used for suggesting activities at Shippensburg’s park and pool.
At Shippensburg Borough Council’s meeting Tuesday night, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board created a form as the first part of a process for suggested activities using the borough’s park or pool.
If someone has something to present to the Park and Recreation Committee, the form will be filled out and be forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Director Kip Fordney. After an assessment process and reviewing of the form, it will come to council, according to Councilwoman Kathy Coy, who also serves on the committee.
The form includes questions regarding its impact on the community and its relevant operating needs, costs, impacted area of the park, and age group impact.
Even if a project does not require a large budget, it will go through this process, Coy said.
The need for a concise process arose when suggestions were being made but nothing had solid plans, according to Andrea Lage, president of council. The hope, she said, is that this project will keep things very clear and in writing and that more activities will be done.
“I think this is a good step in the right direction,” said Lage. “It keeps a clear flow of communication.”
The forms will be advertised on a website, Coy said, and the form could then be available to be downloaded and returned.
